Building Community-Driven Digital Futures: Digital Inclusion Week 2025

Join us in celebrating Digital Inclusion Week (DIW), a nationwide event dedicated to advancing digital equity and inclusion. This year’s theme, “Community-Driven Digital Futures,” highlights how the most effective solutions to bridging the digital divide are born from within communities themselves.

At the Workforce Development Council, we believe that empowering communities to identify and address their own digital needs fosters innovation, participation, and lasting impact. Together, we can ensure no one is left behind in today’s digital age.

Over the years, we have supported multiple initiatives to increase access to technology and digital skills in King County, including:

  • Hosting the Digital Equity Asset Map – An online resource that connects people with community programs offering digital skills classes, device access, and navigation support in our region.

  • Adding Digital Navigators at WorkSource sites – In partnership with AmeriCorps, the American Connection Corps, and Comcast, Digital Navigators help residents access technology, education, and support tailored to their needs.

  • Bridging the Digital Divide with Community – Funding community-driven programs for laptop distribution, internet access, and digital skills training. Participants praised the professional, patient, and culturally sensitive support that helped them overcome language and transportation barriers.
