Economic Security for All Supports Career Success
When people are facing instability, whether related to housing, income, or family safety, completing workforce training and transitioning into employment can feel out of reach. That’s why coordinated investments that address both economic security and career pathways are critical to workforce success.
This video, produced by YWCA, highlights Candice’s journey from housing instability to a career in banking. During a period of crisis, Candice was connected to YWCA’s domestic violence and housing programs, which provided immediate safety and stability. That foundation allowed her to focus on the next step: building a sustainable career.
Through a partnership with the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County, Candice was also enrolled in Economic Security for All (EcSA), a WDC-funded program that provides income and career supports to help participants complete training and successfully enter the workforce. These supports gave Candice the breathing room she needed to focus on her studies, cover basic expenses, and persist through workforce training.
With stable housing, coordinated supports, and career preparation through BankWork$, Candice was able to secure employment as an associate banker, and begin building long-term stability for herself and her child.
Candice’s story demonstrates the power of integrated, people-centered workforce investments. When housing stability, economic security, and career training work together, individuals can move from crisis to opportunity, and communities are stronger as a result.
