Marie calls on decades of policy expertise, collaboration, and strategic partnerships across government, community, and philanthropy.

Prior to joining the WDC, Marie developed and led the Port of Seattle’s workforce development initiatives designed to increase equitable access and career opportunities in construction, maritime, aviation, and other port-related industries. Her previous experience includes the City of Seattle and The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, where she led initiatives focused on equity in workforce, organizational change, and sector-based workforce development strategies, and nearly ten years working with diverse populations in community-based employment and training programs.

Throughout her career, Marie has worked to bring the voices of diverse community stakeholders to address issues related to racial equity and social justice.

Prior to joining the WDC, Ericka served as Inclusion Manager for King County’s Office of Equity and Social Justice, where she led the County’s work to effectively partner with communities to advance pro-equity programs, practices, and policies, including co-writing the County’s first Equity and Social Justice Strategic Plan. Prior to joining King County, Ericka served as Program Officer for Marguerite Casey Foundation in Seattle where she managed programs promoting social, economic, and racial justice.

She has served as Executive Director of a non-profit organization in South Central Los Angeles dedicated to community-led economic and workforce development, Director of Community Outreach for Service Employees International Union, Legislative Deputy to a Los Angeles City Councilmember, and as a private consultant to community-based organizations and networks.

Ericka lives in the South Seattle neighborhood of Seward Park with her family.
