Manufacturing
Overview
For many decades, the manufacturing industry in King County has been vital to our local economy and workforce. Although the sector has experienced a decline in recent years, it remains a significant industry in terms of volume of jobs, quality of jobs and wages, skill development/training needs of employers, and contribution to the local economy.
The WDC actively works with local manufacturing companies, unions and employment organizations to ensure that workers can take advantage of opportunities in manufacturing, and that employers can find the skilled employees they need. In 2010, the WDC convened a sector panel of employers and others for an analysis of industry needs.
